Moon Jumper

Lately I’ve felt the need to chop, but haven’t had many good ideas.

Here’s one, good or not. Over at Mechapixel we were provided this charging bull at what looks like one of those bull runs in Spain.

The description was “…and the cow jumped over the morons, after the run to the fighting arena. Photoshop this wacky scene.”

Photobucket

So I figured he should be jumping over the moon like in the famous nursery rhyme. Instead of morons.

I wanted to fit a dish and a spoon in there somewhere, but I couldn’t really make that work.

I won the contest, mainly because no one else entered in it. haha! A win by default is still a win in my book! πŸ˜‰

Not Really Here Series

From my Facebook group Feet On Desk Fridays… Shots of my feet on my desk, with a better view than I normally see from my cubicle.

Even though I said I wasn’t going to make anymore of these, I thought the series needed a more dramatic ending.

Is it 5 yet?

Random Chops

I haven’t really been photoshopping lately. Just haven’t been inspired much. Hopefully soon I will come up with something creative.

In the meantime, here’s a couple of mediocre chops I did for some contests a few months ago that I never posted here.

The first was over at PhotoshopContest

The source was this wicked looking statue. The thing kind of freaks me out!

Photobucket

In keeping with the theme, I created this Death type guy flying over a city looking for his prey.

Photobucket

The other one is a bit more silly as I tend to be over at Mechapixel.

From the contest:
An elderly woman watches from a balcony on May 31, 2011, as a motorcade arrives at the Special Court compound in Belgrade, apparently to transport war crimes suspect Ratko Mladic to the plane that would take him to The Hague for trial.

Photobucket

She really reminded me of the old man muppets Statler & Waldorf that hang out on balconies and ledges. I thought they would make a great trio.

Photobucket

WALDORF: “They aren’t half bad.”
STATLER: “Nope, they’re ALL bad!”

The Show

A few weeks ago I landed in second place in a daily contest over at photoshopcontest.com

The original source was a photo of these two rings.
Photobucket

Something about it said to me: “flying squirrel jumping through rings of fire”. Yeah, not sure why it said that, but it did.

And when a photo says something as random as that, you damn sure better make it happen.

So I did.

The show must go on… πŸ˜›

The Battle

I chopped an epic battle for a daily contest at Mechapixel.com (as Zuppe)

An actor dressed as a demon whips an actor dressed as Jesus during a ceremony as part of religious activities to mark the start of Holy Week in Texistepeque, Santa Ana April 18, 2011. Participants receive lashes from the “devils”, also know as Talciguines, as punishment for their sins. The annual event depicts the struggle between good and evil. REUTERS/Luis Galdamez

I decided to make it more intense.

Here’s to choppin! πŸ˜€

Nightmare

I landed in second place in a contest over at PSC last week.

I thought the original source was pretty neat, but wasn’t sure where to take it.

Photobucket

I originally added in the layers of stairs making it rise endlessly. I almost stopped there and gave up on it. It just didn’t look all that great in that state. Then I added in the grainy darkness, and cracks to give it a more creepy look.

Photobucket

I really liked the way it turned out and was surprised to find out the voters at PSC did too. πŸ™‚

The Headache

I won a contest over at Mechapixel recently. The original photo was of a girl making a headache pose or something. No idea where they get their source photos from.

Photobucket

It reminded me of Edvard Munch’s The Scream. So I went for it, though it wasn’t easy as I had imagined it would be. Making the photo look like a painting was rather tricky, and I doubt I could re-create this chop.

Photobucket

I got lucky I suppose. πŸ˜€

Dominoes

A contest I recently participated in at PSC.

Original Family Sign

Photobucket

My all source chop of it… in to dominoes!

Photobucket

I didn’t do to well in this contest, but I had fun making it so that’s what counts.

Observatory Deck

An unofficial reunion contest went down at PSC. Choppers were provided this Ferry Lounge photo.

Image

I wanted to chop it, but my original idea proved to be too difficult for me to accomplish, so I went with this observatory deck in a space station type thing.

Image

A lot of people participated in this one, yet I ended up in 5th place. Not too bad for little old me. πŸ™‚

Naval Battle Speed Chop

Today is a speed chop day at PSC. They provided this photo of a ferry boat.

Photobucket

I suppose I was inspired by yesterdays remembrance of Pearl Harbor and decided to make a naval war type chop. I wanted to replace the cars with tanks, though couldn’t find any suitable images. The angles are very strange. Instead I moved the ferry over a bit to hide the modern. It’s not perfect, but I was in a hurry. Speed chop and all.

Photobucket

My grandfather severed on the USS Indiana during WWII, so here’s to remembering him and his bravery.

*Edit: I ended up in second place with this one.
