Snapshots Quilt Along Block #1 - Let Them Eat Cake

     

Yay! I am so excited to start my Snapshots Quilt and 

I hope you are too!

The Snapshots quilt is part of a Fat Quarter Shop quilt along for a cause, benefiting the 

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Did you know that the families of the children receiving treatments at St. Jude's don't have to pay a dime? St. Jude's wants the families to worry about helping their children get well, 

not about how to pay medical bills during such a difficult time.

So here's how it works. On the 15th of each month, starting today, a video tutorial will be released on the Fat Quarter Shop blog to make one of the blocks. With each tutorial, Camille, Kimberly and I will be sharing memories, personal photos, and stories that go along with the block. 

I have to admit, I was a little nervous to be in front of the camera, but we hope you will enjoy the stories and personal snapshots we share.

All of the patterns will be free, but we are hoping you can donate $5 per block to raise money for this great cause. Did I mention Fat Quarter Shop and Moda Fabrics are matching every dollar raised up to $10,000? Pretty great, right? You can donate and track the progress here. 

The Snapshots quilt is made with our Daysail fabric collection.

She has always loved stripes and polka dots.

We really are grateful for the opportunity to participate in all of this and to help raise money for St. Jude's. The last year and a half I have been battling breast cancer myself, so this really hits close to home for me and my family. I am feeling much better now and we feel so blessed to help give back after all the kindness and love that we've been 

shown through our journey. 

Battling cancer really is a fight for your life!

Please help make someone else's fight just a little easier.

More Scrappy Placemats

International Quilt Market is just around the corner and that means my new patterns are ready to go, well I thought I had them ready 

and then I decided to add one more. 

So here it is,

Last year I designed a pattern called Scrappy Placemats. 

I had several requests, so this year I decided to do a second one.

It was so much fun making the small blocks for my Smooth Sailing quilt, that I did some smaller blocks for the placemats as well.

Snowball 

and Courtyard Steps.

Don't you just love scrappy!

I love these little projects, they go together so quickly. 

You can cut them all from Charm Squares 

but it's a great way to use your scraps as well.

NEW Daysail Patterns! YAY!!!

Today I am so happy to share with you my new patterns made with our 

Bonnie and Camille Daysail fabric collection.

We will be showing this fabric collection at the International Quilt Market in October and 

it will ship to your local quilt shop in February. 

The patterns are available now.

It's always so hard to work on these projects for weeks and not show them,

but after many hours of designing, cutting, sewing, pressing and binding,

FINALLY, they are ready!

My first and very favorite quilt this time is Smooth Sailing.  

It is a large quilt measuring 83" x 91". 

As you can see, there are 4 different boats in diagonal rows.

One that has a Pinwheel,

One with a Friendship Star.

a Log Cabin block,

and a Churn Dash. 

Some face one way and some the other.

The sailboat print in aqua seemed like the obvious choice for the back and I used the stripe for 3 of my 4 quilt bindings. They are just so perfect, I couldn't resist. 

Molly of Lovely Threads did a great job quilting this one. 

Notice the clouds in the sky, the waves in the water and the stones down the pole?

 I am really ready for some Smooth Sailing!

Our Daysail line is great for baby boy quilts, so I just had to make two.

So many fun dots and stripes.

Both quilts are 42" x 42". 

This Anchor quilt is simple and quick using fat quarters and a few jelly roll strips.

The Waves quilt is made with jelly rolls and is really fast as well.

If you look closely, you can see that the white background print 

is a white on white dot, great for texture.

The text print is one of my favorites in the line and I used it for the back of this quilt.  

In fact, I couldn't resist using it in every single project. 

Yes, striped binding again.

Next up, High Tide.

This quilt is large as well, 78" x 96" and Fat Quarter Friendly.

LeAnn Powell quilted this one and I chose an all over paisley that looks like 

water splashing.

You can see how the floral prints mix so well with all the stripes and dots.

I used the red text print for the stones and the binding on this one. 

I thought it framed it nicely.

For those of you that didn't happen to see that I introduced this new bag pattern 

last week, this is my new Sew on the Go Bag pattern made with

our Miss Kate fabric line. Miss Kate is in quilt shops NOW! 

It's the perfect bag to put on your lap while doing your hand work as you travel.

 The front pocket unzips to reveal scissors, thread and everything you might need for 

the project you are working on. 

 Your thread and scissors can't fall down into your seat and get lost.

This cute little button to holds everything in place.
