Three undergraduate internship opportunities with NParks Wildlife Management Division.
Interested applicants, please email your transcript, CV, cover letter and availability to the respective NParks personnel.
1) Wildlife Management Research internship
Lots of ecological concepts taught in textbooks are theoretical and it is idealistic to expect wildlife to fully conform to these theories and models. In addition, there are oftentimes many constraints and/or curveballs thrown along the way in ecological research projects: costs, logistics, manpower, or the animal simply not showing up. The Wildlife Management Division in the National Parks Board applies an evidence-based approach to wildlife management in Singapore and carries out various applied ecology projects to better inform management practices. We are currently looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to be part of our team to contribute to our ongoing projects, including some which may be highly field-intensive. This internship will offer students an opportunity to learn and apply various ecological research techniques in the real-world context.
Learning Outcomes:
• Work in the field environment confidently
• Carry out ecological research independently
• Conduct literature review for specific research topics
• Organize, maintain, and analyse ecological data
Internship duration: May to early Aug 2026 (with option of extension to Dec 2026 depending on project requirements). Candidates with longer availability are preferred.
Special Requirements: Candidates are not required to have any background in ecological research. However, candidates with experience in ecological fieldwork (bird & mammal research), and are proficient in GIS and R software are preferred. Candidates may be required to work after office hours for night and/or dawn surveys.
