Andrew Chen is a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz, focusing on a16z Speedrun which invests up to $1M in brand new startups. Previously he led growth teams at Uber during its pre-IPO hypergrowth phase, during which the company entered 800 markets and grew to 100 million active riders.
He is author of The Cold Start Problem, a best-selling book on product strategy and leveraging network effects in tech. It features interviews from the founders/teams behind Slack, Clubhouse, Zoom, Twitch, Tinder, Reddit, Uber, Airbnb, PayPal, and more.
He holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington, where he graduated at the age of 19.
