The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer will be held virtually on Saturday, March 12, 2022

The Wardens of The Corporation of the Seven Wardens - Camp 7 Halifax, invite you to participate in “The Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer”, to be held Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. (AST). This Ritual offers an opportunity to those who will shortly join the engineering profession, to obligate themselves to the high standards of integrity that the profession has established. The ring that you will wear is a statement of your obligation to professional integrity. The Ritual has a long history; it began in 1922 when a group of senior Canadian engineers met to consider the suggestion that, when entering the profession, the graduates should have the opportunity to subscribe to an oath reflecting the principles by which they would practice. A letter was written to Rudyard Kipling asking for his assistance in writing an appropriate ritual. Kipling responded and wrote the ritual that is still used. The first ceremony was held in Toronto on April 25, 1925.The Ritual and the Iron Ring are protected by copyright. The ceremony &amp; iron rings are governed by The Corporation of Seven Wardens Inc., headquartered in Montreal, which is empowered to create Camps in various locations in Canada. The Camps, through seven local wardens, conduct the Ritual of the Calling of an Engineer ceremony.Who is eligible to register for the 2022 Iron Ring Ceremony?1.	Dalhousie Undergraduate Engineering Students who are expected to complete their BEng program requirements in the Spring, Summer or Fall 2022 terms. 2.	Senior Candidates: (1) Graduate Students in the Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University, or (2) internationally trained engineers working in Nova Scotia, both of who can demonstrate that they have met the qualifications from an accredited Canadian undergraduate engineering university program by being registered with one of the provincial professional engineer associations (Engineers Nova Scotia, for example).3.	Unfortunately, we are unable to accept registrations from students or engineers from other universities or provinces for our March 2022 ceremony due to restrictions with access to the MS Teams LIVE event.
