HELLO AGAIN! PLUS : FONT FEST! (PART TWO)
Hey y'all!
I really tend to hibernate in the winter, especially when the weather goes from so so cold to cold as the dickens! Here in DC that change happened in the past week or so, and as a result I've mostly been holed up in my house under blankets.
&you know what that means!
No?
It means : wasting spending so much time digging through the internet!
During a recent dig, I stumbled upon this post on Pikaland which turned me onto this legitly badass typography resource on the legitly badass (and legitly in spanish) neo2 blog! They feature loads of unique lettering styles by loads of illustrators &designers.
LOADS!
I wanted to share some of my favorite fonts (which are freeee to download!) and barely got past the first page of them before having way too many for sharing to be reasonable.
So instead of all my most-faveys ( way too hard to pick ), I instead give you this little taste test of what you'll find on the site :
{ psst.. I highly recommend you click this pic so you can see these fonts in BIG size. worth it }

p.s. i have green hair now!
It's pretty fun. I feel kinda like a vegetable.
In a fun way!
I decided that if I were a vegetable I would be a haleychoke. Just makes sense.

FRESH RELICS : 2008 POLAROID ADVENTURE!
Sup y'all!
I'm back ( yay! ) after a crazy-nutso-hypersuper-busy ( barf! ) couple of months!
Over the past couple of weeks I've taken on the supremely daunting task of finally getting around to scanning some of my 300 million bazillion drawings/chicken scratch/photographs/small weird bits of paper.
Jeez louise, talk about tedium. ( ugh, actually, let's not )
Anyhow, since I'm spending all these mind-numbing hours doing this, I thought I would share some of my most favey thingsies from.. The Past..
( oh la la! )
..including so many polaroids..
welcome to it!
One fine day in the year 2008, my best pal PJ and I set off on a day trip to a far off suburb. Equipped with a polaroid camera, we bought thrift store disguises immediately upon our arrival and did weird stuff while we explored the town.
( fact : this adventure was the first time I'd ever used my polaroid's self-timer for some reason )
{ pre-disguises : }
{ post-disguises : }
{ these next two are supposed to look like a magic trick, I think }
{ this one is my favorite picture from the day. took me foreeeever to set up }
{ in case you're wondering, the red smear on my face is fake blood. }
We used a few packs of film on this trip, so I know there are bunch more polaroids from that day.. somewhere around here..
At the end of this post I find myself wondering whether I'm too old to play dress up and have photoshoots?
( maybe don't answer that ! )

TODAY'S TRAPPINGS
Aloha, good people of Komputerweldt!
This is just a quick post wherein I will show you the packaging of an order I just shipped out :
The smaller guy on top is the actual order, my Paper Keys Mini Note Set. The tiny note cards & teensy envelopes were slipped inside a glassine bag, which was sealed with a cardstock bag topper heavily decorated (maybe too heavily? this is very possible..) with a bajillion paper snips & finished with a label.
the larger part is a handmade envelope cointaining a few bonus surprises (surprises are rad!). I can't tell you what they are cause you know, surprises an' all. I drew a stitchy line along all the edges on the back of the envelope.. you know, just to give it that certain je ne c'est quoi. The envelope seal was made from a drawing I did.
which brings us, lastly, to STRING : the no-fail finishing touch!
I don't much care for a plain manila envelope, so I used some completely crooked pieces of card stock to cover it and make an address label.
Then I mailed it! Yay!
In reality I am knee deep in packages. Packin' packages all the live long day, yes sir. ..I'm telling you guys this because I want you to brace yourselves for what could be a veritable onslaught of PACKAGE PICTURES.
I will attempt some self-control &try to maybe only show a couple of other packages, but in case that fails.. don't say I didn't warn you. I did! I just did!

SHOW & TELL : PSEUDO-ADVENTURES IN BOOKBINDING!
hello, kids! wanna see some stuff i made one time??
YES, GOOD!! LET'S SNEAKY-PEEK!
YES, GOOD!! LET'S SNEAKY-PEEK!
LITTLE-KNOWN BUT COMPLETE &TOTAL FACT :
- BOOKBINDING is officially my newest &totes most favorite pastime in all of the land!!
#1 hobby-style supreme!!
..I haven't even been doing it a year, so obviously I still have a ton more to learn before I can be crowned King of all the Books and open my own technicolored bookbinding dojo.. or whatever..
..but even as a beginner I'm completely infatuated with the whole process.. it can take a long time but it is just so satisfying when it's finished.

check it :
For some reason I have a much much much easier time working hard on a project as long as the end result is intended as a gift for a person I like lots. It sort of gives me an excuse to make.
Soooo, with this in mind, I recently decided to make a gifty little set of blank book-babies for my singularly all-star champ of an older sister..
I printed all the patterened papers myself, using kits from A Print A Day's digital shop Parasol Co. as well as designs from Reprodepot Pattern Book : Folk (which, btdubs, is a *sick* resource.. it's endlessly useful and inspirational)

The books are small, a little less than 4 inches square, so I made a slipcase-style home for the little guys (now they'll never get lost!). The slipcase was also a chance (read : excuse) for me to flex my box-making skills(nerd nerd nerd)
The inside pages of each book were made with a lightweight paper that coordinated with the cover pattern. The paper was cut into strips and accordion folded before being glued into the covers, which were made beforehand. Making the covers first gives the glue time to dry while you bind the bookblock. yay!
(sidenote : making accordion fold books is so so fast and so so easy, which leaves you more time to do things like.. say, build a slipcase. I always feel like I'm cheating a bit when I make this type of book because of how quick it is, but that's insane.)
I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. They're pretty adorable and the size is just right : Small enough to bring along in your bag, big enough to actually be able to write/draw/glue things into.
I can't wait to see what my sister fills them with! I have a plan to make a whole bunch of these and document a month in each one.
best sib-sis I ever had!

FONT FEST!
Due to an acute case of insomnia last month, I managed to add over 25 new fonts to my obsessive collection..
&then I realized that I should share the wealth! { plus that helps me justify the amount of hours I spent looking at fonts.. }
also: One of my goals in life is to:
a) find, & b) hang out next to: the Tumtum tree!
from the Jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol...
Yeah.. I think about that old tree a lot.. { hence the text in the font samples }
..Right. Chew on this! { these! }
