About the challenge
CodeXtreme 2025 is here and out emphasis is on value and impact. We encourage participants to pick high-value and high-impact problems they can solve for themselves, their peers, companies or communities and learn a lot about Product, Design and Software in the process.
This year's theme: "Build Things People Need: High-Value, High-Impact Solutions To Shape Communities,” challenges participants to create impactful, scalable solutions that address real-world problems. We’re bringing together 250+ of Africa’s brightest students and tech enthusiasts for an unforgettable 4-day experience of learning, building, and sharing.
This year we are letting you work on what you find meaningfull as always, so long as it is valuable and impactfull. However we have a 2 challenges from 2 of our partners and we'd love to invite interested teams to participate:
- Wolfram Platform, API and Language Challenge | Wolfram Through CodeXtreme
- GIZ Rwanda AI Challenge | DTCR Through CodeXtreme
Go through the documents and decide which you will work on if interested. Those not interested can still work on their own ideas/problems/challenges/case studies.

Requirements
What to Build
For this event, we expect you to build a working prototype for your idea/problem/case study/challenge and have it ready to demo in front of judges and the public.
If the solution involves code, which they all should, it should be recent and hosted on GitHub, with most of the contribution done during the 4 days of the hackathon--old code and 1 huge commit before submission will cause desqualifiquation from the competition forever as it equates to cheating.
What to Submit
- A GitHub link to your repo with your code and contributions on it.
- A live link to your application. If it is hardware, a live link to YouTube with your team demonstrating how it work. The hardware should be present with you at your stand during judging.
- A live video 5 to 10 minutes presentation hosted on YouTube (this is for our own archives)--might be used for judging as well, so do it well. Name it CodeXtreme 2025 + the name of your team or solution, ex: CodeXtreme 2025 Hack Life. Add #codextreme25 in your description.
- A Figma of design link if you have any.
- Slides presentation
- Details of your team members and their contributions to the project (we'll record a video on how to do this or do a live session)
- Any other thing you want us to look at!
