How we built it
The application was built using multiple software such as: Figma, Canva, Scratch, Bravo Studio etc.
Challenges we ran into
A major roadblock for us was narrowing down locations for the player while also covering as much ground as possible. We had many obstacles with understanding how to embed our ideas within the app, and so many ideas into the app, that led us to physically make the idea happen in a short amount of time. Another issue was finding time to develop more of the interactions and develop more of a user experience, that is app-like, but we tried our very best and put our heart into the project!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're happy that we made a project that will help children develop an interest in STEM and inspire them to learn beyond. Not only we are happy we made this app, but after overcoming many of the obstacles, we developing an amazing idea that utilized our creativity in order to find ways in which children can find to become interested in learning about various topics in the STEM field. It is not simply a game, but it is a combination of a newer concept where we make an interactive problem solving user session. There are rare times where we find students actively learning how to problem solve, methods, or diversified thinking outside of the box.
What we learned
We learned how to collaborate effectively as a team and how to incorporate our own creativity as well as dabbling in different software. Further, we learned how to problem solve when some situations happen at the wrong time and a requirement to find a way to bypass this. Trusting our teammates, our mentors, and the people around us were really important, and to understand their needs or their schedule were also important. Compromise is another aspect of life where if we want to work as a team, we have to let go of some ideas, and focus on 1 primary one to develop because having a team goal was extremely important.
What's next for Adventure UP!
If we had more time to expand the app, we would use the sky game with the house going up, and make the balloons pop when the user gets any quiz question wrong. There would be a sea area as well as more concepts on bacteria and swamps as an extension of the Nile river after a set level that children will understand. More locations and exploring, sky, land, and sea will be intertwined.
