My international student friend once told me how it is difficult to be away from family and friends for extended periods of time. Skype and phone calls only do so much as they are not physical.
I wanted to create an experience where one can feel the hug of another person despite being separated by a large distance. In the current iteration, I used Myo Armband to track a person's arm, as if it was hugging an in imaginary person. From there the data is analysed to determine precisely what kind of hug it is, so that the recipient knows how he or she was virtually hugged. Anyone who wants to 'hug' someone can use this device/service.
