Inspiration

GlobalHackVI gave us four problems to tackle 1) Homeless Prevention 2) Resource Inventory and Search 3) Provider Communication and Coordination 4) High-Level Analytics

What it does

AngelHop is a suite of resources designed to empower the homeless community and their resources. A list of functionality includes: 1) CoC Network Wide Analytics 2) Ticketing Referral System 3) Group Chat 4) Resource, map-based search 5) Resource utilization and capacity metrics 6) Tracking client success and progress 7) Emergency Referral and Travel Booking 8) Crowdfunded resource campaigns 9) Client, Provider and Angel Profiles 10) Rewards and gamification for network accomplishments 11) Single search across providers, clients and angels

How we built it

We used Meteor, NodeJS, Boostrap.

Challenges we ran into

The data is incredibly complex, so we often found ourselves simplifying the existing data model to enable us to focus on functionality. It was hard not to get too process or data focused given and keep a focus on functionality and features.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud we were able to integrate a variety of features into our product over the course of 3 days. It was tiring!

What we learned

A lot about homelessness. From having to understand the data, and its reason for collection, you learn how large the problem is and how it will take more than a hackathon to truly make a dent in such a problem. But we believe our solution can be the start of something big to bring more technology to the incredible providers and their clients, and that makes it truly exciting.

What's next for angelhop

We'll see what happens with the competition! We'd love to continue on its work, but we suppose that lies with the judges.
