Project Story

What it does

API360 is a simplified solution that guides users through connecting external APIs to Salesforce, making integration accessible and seamless for users with minimal technical expertise.

How we built it

We initially developed a working prototype in Python to address communication challenges for speech-impaired individuals. Recognizing the need for broader integration, we pivoted from this prototype to create API360—an accessible, user-friendly tool within Salesforce. To ease the integration process, we built a graphical user interface, enabling users to connect APIs effortlessly, even under tight deadlines.

Challenges we ran into

  • Learning and navigating Salesforce's command-line interface for the first time.
  • Connecting external APIs reliably within Salesforce.
  • Managing the steep learning curve of Salesforce ecosystem tools.
  • Making the platform accessible within a limited timeframe, especially with last-minute adjustments.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Pivoted successfully from our initial Python prototype into a Salesforce-compatible solution.
  • Developed a user-friendly GUI that simplifies API connections.
  • Overcame initial platform complexity and training barriers.
  • Delivered a deployable, accessible API integration tool on short notice.

What we learned

  • Persistence and patience are vital—echoing the story of "The Tortoise and the Hare"—steady progress leads to success.
  • Gaining familiarity with new ecosystems (like Salesforce CLI and APIs) is essential.
  • Building for long-term impact requires careful planning and adaptability.
  • Fast-paced development with iterative improvements can lead to effective solutions.

What's next for API360

We aim to enhance API360 by expanding API support, improving scalability, and adding more customization features. Our goal is to continue developing accessible communication tools and establish API360 as a reliable, long-term connector within the Salesforce ecosystem.
