Inspiration Managing student applications manually is inefficient and time-consuming. We wanted to create a simple, automated, and transparent system that eliminates paperwork and streamlines approvals for both students and administrators.
What It Does Applico enables students to submit applications digitally, which then pass through an automated approval hierarchy—from the House Master to the Deputy Head and finally the Principal. Students receive real-time updates on their application status, ensuring a smooth and efficient approval process.
How We Built It Frontend: Next.js with Tailwind CSS for a sleek and responsive UI. Backend: Node.js with Express for handling application logic. Database: MongoDB for storing applications and user data. Authentication: NextAuth for secure logins and role-based access.
Challenges We Ran Into Implementing role-based access control for different approval levels. Ensuring real-time updates for students and administrators. Designing a user-friendly UI that works seamlessly across devices. Accomplishments That We're Proud Of Successfully built a fully functional application approval system. Implemented automated status tracking for improved transparency. Created an intuitive and efficient workflow that reduces delays.
What We Learned The importance of streamlining user experience for fast approvals. Handling authentication and role management effectively. Optimizing database queries for performance and scalability.
What's Next for Applico? Mobile app integration for easier student access. Notification system via email/SMS for instant updates. Advanced analytics for tracking application trends and approvals.
