Appster

Appster is a utility app where one can take a picture or use an existing image of a poster to add the details of the event to your personal calendar. Furthermore, you can even share the event details with your friends using Whatsapp and other messaging services. An additional functionality of navigation to the event venue is provided. We have used a Third Party API(ocrapiservice) to implement the feature of extracting text out of images. This text is then processed using regular expressions to obtain required data about the event. Parsed data obtained is then used to add events into android calendar and then a navigation option is provided to navigate to the event destination using Google API.

Purpose: The purpose of "Appster" is to help you keep track of all the events in spite of your busy life by just taking a picture of the poster using your cellphone camera. There are many people who take a picture of event and then totally forget about it or are just lazy enough to browse through their gallery. But what if an app does it for you? That’s the main purpose of our app! The app is made intelligent enough to detect the location, title and date of the event. It gets better! All the information is fed into your personal calendar to remind you a few days before the event. Cool, isn’t it? Give rest to your fingers and share the event details with your friends from our app. You won’t feel lost anymore with our application because we provide navigation to reach your event destination. Just got cooler isn’t it? :)
