Inspiration
We wanted to help people learn languages, and ASL letters
What it does
We have one program that tells you what ASL letter you are showing, and on the website, you can see tutorials for each ASL letter. Another program allows you to speak, and what you say will be translated and spoken into a language of your choice.
How we built it
We used opencv and mediapipe for the ASL data collection and model, and the model is a Logistic Regression model.
Challenges we ran into
The data was not perfect, so we had to preprocess it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were able to make a working model that can detect ASL letters.
What we learned
Stack overflow is key. Planning exactly what you are doing, and deadlines for each part of the project are also key.
What's next for ASLearning
Possibly live translation of full ASL words, on video call.
