Inspiration

We were inspired by EOG's space-themed asteroid drilling challenge!

What it does

The user can input hook load, differential pressure, drilling depth, and bit weight and our random forest ensemble model will calculate the drill penetration rate based on the data from the 20 asteroids in the EOG data set. This rate is then used to calculate the cost and total time needed to drill to the given depth using each of the different bits. These numbers can be compared to determine which bit should be used.

How we built it

We used Velo for our front end and Python for our back end.

Challenges we ran into

We were unable to connect our front and back end this weekend.

What we learned

Jenelle helped Analisa learn about modeling in Python and using Scikit-Learn and Roni learned how to use Velo. We all learned about the engineering processes that go into drilling and how rigs work!
