Inspiration
Accepting EOG Resources' sponsor challenge, The Interstellar Asteroid Rush, using drilling in a space asteroid environment as a metaphor for real-life well drilling data, the team decided to tackle the evaluation of capital efficiency of drill bits to serve such operations. This project, using Software Development Life Cycle, involved: creation of website, cleansing of the 20 data files provided by EOG, alongside storing said information in SQL database. Furthermore, API was initialized utilizing Javascript language with node.js framework to retrieve "asteroid" drilling real-time data. Most importantly, data was then interpreted with the provided information comparing drill runs to explore and visualize the now compartmentalized information (bit depth, rate of penetration, hook load, differential pressure, and weight on bit, etc.) to evaluate efficiency of drill process in a way that is intuitive for the intended users.
What it does
How we built it
