Inspiration

In the world, there is a huge gender inequality in the work industry. Specifically, in the tech industry. Through Career4All, we have made it so you can find jobs and internships that treat all employees equally.

What it does

Career4All is a premium database of jobs and internships at top companies where you can find your dream job in the tech industry. We made sure to refine all the jobs in our database to make sure that all of them support gender equality in the tech industry.

How we built it

We built Career4All using multiple technologies, tools and languages. For the back-end of Career4All, we used Python, CockroachDB, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Docker and Heroku. For the front-end, we used Next.js and Chakra UI. We used Github to collaborate and used VsCode live-share to work on the project simultaneously.

Challenges we ran into

When integrating the backend to the frontend, we ran into the problem of trying to make API calls. and Keyword problems when searching for jobs. We also had a hard time creating stunning front-end designs without having a designer or any designs at all. Using Python to create a filter of jobs that have no discrimination towards gender and promotes inclusion was also difficult since it was very specific and of course, there was a filter on the tech industry specifically.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The backend and the front-end at the end of the day were successfully connected to each other even when there were some issues back and forth we managed to pull through and make things work.

What we learned

During our time building Career4All, we learned how to utilize many technologies and languages. For most of us, we had used CockroachDB for the first time, and also two of us have never used Axios for API requesting and using data in a very unique way. We have also never used docker before but today was a great experience and things went smoothly.

What's next for Career4All

In the future of Career4All, we plan to expand our database of jobs for everyone. We want to create equal and sustainable jobs to make sure everything is treated with respect and equality. We also want to perfect our functionality and make sure there are no issues as users become to double and triple.
