Inspiration

I was inspired by Code Bullet. He made a pong AI and I wanted to make it better and faster.

What it does

In its unfinished state it is just pong with control over level design and the speed of the ball. It can be played with a friend or against an bot.

How we built it

It's built using Unity and C#. All the assets are from GIMP.

Challenges we ran into

I found a partner on the first day, but didn't exchange contact info before I had to go 2 hours away and come back at noon on Saturday. Therefore I didn't end up having a team for the hackathon. I also used Unity and C# for the first time. Losing about 12 hours, being by myself, and facing a steep learning curve set me back a ton.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud that I shipped something at the end of the day. I went up against a lot of setbacks but I still managed to get something done at my first hackathon.

What we learned

I learned that hackathons might only be a few days, but they're great opportunities to meet new people and to really spend a lot of time coding. I learned how fun they can be as I participated in the cup stacking challenge and the hot ones challenge.

What's next for cpong

Originally starting off as a way to train an AI model, I plan on training an AI using cpong in the future. I want to prove that I can do it easily using NEAT and hopefully faster due to a harder difficulty.
