Inspiration

We were inspired by our own experience looking for a job in the tech industry, Its a hard and sometimes overwhelming experience and having someone or a tool that can actually simulate an interview with feedback and ways to improve can be very helpful

What it does

The project is a MR app that helps candidates prepare for interviews , with virtual avatars that act as an interviewer, you upload your cv and job description and it generates questions according to the settings (duration, difficulty, interviewer type) You have a virtual coach (Called Brainy) that helps you during your time using the app. He can guide you during and after the interview and to find your way with the app.

How we built it

we started rapid prototyping with shapesXR which was a very helpful experience and a great tool and than moved into unity to develop. (Since most of the team member's comfort zone is unity and its a great game engine for XR) we used AWS to upload the CV and chatGPT to process the cv and create questions and feedback we used the a plugin called convai for the virtual interviewers as chatbots and each of us contributed with his/hers unique skills

Challenges we ran into

  • Creating a compelling UI/UX for the user in XR that is easy to understand and is also compelling was challenging
  • Using the plugin for the avatars and converting the responses from chatGPT into effective interview questions and feedback
  • I came with little unity experience and it took me time to get comfortable with it.
  • we had some issues synchronizing with github at the beginning and getting things to work. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
  • First of all the fact that we worked well as a team and collaborated so well while coming up with ideas and sharing how we do things was excellent.
  • The UI/UX that we came up with was an accomplishment we are proud of,
  • The trailer for the final submission came out great,
    • Finishing an app in a short amount of time and getting most of the flow to work! ## What we learned
  • How to develop for Mixed Reality and what is important when designing in XR
  • That even developers can design well ;-)
  • combining knowledge sharing and great team work gets you very far! ## What's next for Crush the Interview
  • Finishing up the entire backend so the flow is working completely, polishing the UI/UX and setting up a beta release
