🌟 Inspiration

CryptoCanary draws inspiration from the canaries that once protected coal miners from deadly gases. Our tool, CryptoCanary, serves a similar purpose, warning users new to cryptocurrencies about risks in cryptocurrency markets via a simulation, game, and learning module.

💡 What it does

The main educational part of the project comes from a brief learning module, consisting of short texts explaining the key terms and concepts. Additionally, users can mint tokens, create liquidity pools, swap, and rug pull in our simulator, showing how rug pull scams work. The general investment game allows users to develop cryptocurrency trading strategies in a safe environment.

  • Learning Module: Bite-sized, digestible content that breaks down complex crypto concepts into understandable terms

  • Rug Pull Simulator: A safe environment where users can experience and understand how these devastating scams actually work

  • Investment Arena: A risk-free trading simulation that teaches strategy development and risk management

🛠️ How we built it

The foundation is built on Node.js with React/Tailwind for the frontend, ensuring smooth interactions and real-time updates. We integrated Google's Gemini API to power our AI-driven market simulation, creating realistic and unpredictable market conditions.

Challenges we ran into

Originally, we intended to actually execute simulation trades on Solano's dev environment. While we were able to make significant progress, we were ultimately unable to integrate Solano into our application. We resolved this error by carefully programming our own simulation and tuning its parameters.

🚧 Accomplishments that we're proud of

While we are generally extremely proud of the functionality, we are especially proud of how our project's aesthetics turned out, providing an excellent combination of efficiency and interactivity.

🏆 What we learned

Through the project, we learned how cryptocurrency scams like rug pulls happen, and how this affects the general market.

📚 What's next for CryptoCanary

The next step in the development of CryptoCanary is integrating the application with the Solano dev environment so simulations will actually be executed.
