DepthView - An AR Project using EchoAR

A simple platform for anyone to connect their face with an image portfolio.

Inspiration

I got a message on LinkedIn while thinking of ideas for this project and decided it would be cool for people to be able to present their portfolio directly linked to an image in AR.

What it does

  1. It lets users upload a portfolio and their face.
  2. Users can then use the viewer to hover over registered people's faces and see their portfolio.

How I built it

I used ReactJS and the EchoAR API to build this project. There is no backend, the frontend directly communicates with the amazing EchoAR api for this project.

Challenges I ran into

I had difficully figuring out how to upload files from user input to the API.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of and What I learned

I was able to learn React Router and learn more about how AR works and applications through additionally side research.

What's next for DepthView

For the future, this platform can be extended to display more than just images when it recongized other's faces, such as videos are either static or dynamic 3D content. The EchoAR API include a lot of features which make it easy to create such an application. Improved facial recognition can also be added so people can be recognized from more than just the uploaded images.
