Inspiration

Zeal to combat hunger and starvation in Rural Communities

What it does

Grow Organic food crops integrated with Free range poultry to provide affordable nutritious and Healthy food options for low income earning households by utilizing our degraded land

How we built it

We purchased a two acre land and planted trees but will convert it to a farm land to grow Banana, Papaya, Vegetables and Free range poultry

Challenges we ran into

Getting the funding to kickoff the project was a big challenge as a tech based agricultural founder time management was a big task. Securing our Banana from grazing Cattle and Sheep were difficult.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We took 3 years to test out our products on a small scale demo farm with 6 hen and grew Banana, Papaya, Pepper, Cabbage, Tomato etc. We opened a small retail store and it proudly serves over 200 households daily. We were able to purchase a bike for mobility to transport our products from the farm and other locations We grew our Social Media to over 6000 followers within a month to help us share our knowledge about sustainability and climate. We won a spirit award for creating a community to educate consumers and producers on how their food choice can affect our environment.

What we learned

Organic Farming is healthy for both environment and consumers. Working toward Sustainable future is a great vision but continuing is difficult.

What's next for Elif Project

We hope to scale the Elif Project to over 10 hectares and also developing an ecommerce solution to distribute our product to a larger audience in our community and beyond
