Crowdsourcing Emergency Data for Natural Disaster Relief

Inspiration

One of our original teammates was unable to attend PennApps due to evacuations in Florida. This got us down the track of building something relating the resources we could give others in emergency situations.

What it does

It provides real time data relating to natural disaster zones and our services. Our services include:

  1. Locates Emergency Essential Supplies
  2. Locates Local Shelters
  3. Helps You Find Transportation Out Of An Affected Zone.

How we built it

We built this complex design primarily in React JS, used MongoDB and Google Cloud for Storage. We also integrated Mapbox and Several Databases for information (where the real time data comes from). The domain is from domain.com.

Challenges we ran into

Everything was a challenge, we used tutorials and mentors to overcome our challenges.

We built what we built in only 30ish hours

What we learned

Coding on a professional level is challenging.
