💡 Inspiration

We can all agree that people who go out of their way to care for the environment are good people. However, none of them are truly rewarded for their actions, which are soon forgotten. We believe that these small actions should be remembered and praised. This is why we created EN-FT. Though not much, we wanted to offer an NFT as a sort of novelty to these amazing individuals. After a while, the user would be able to look back at all of the good deeds they’ve done and feel great about it! Additionally, we want to encourage others to become environmentally friendly by gamifying their experience by adding collectables.## What it does

🔍 What it does

Our program allows users seeking to help the environment effectively find volunteering opportunities to do so. We also preserve the action through EN-FT's so good deeds are never forgotten! First, we used DeSo Login to implement the authentication. After the user has signed in, they are brought to the dashboard where they can browse through various volunteering opportunities posted by individuals and organizations. Once a user has completed the task, they will be awarded an EN-FT. The user can then recall their accomplishments by looking at their collection of EN-FT’s. Additionally, users can also post their own volunteering opportunities to find passionate volunteers enthusiastic to help save the world!

⚙️ Tech Stack

We prototyped on Figma and then developed the front end with Velo. We then used javascript and the DeSo Protocol Library to integrate the authentication, posting, and minting on the Wix's Velo.

🚧 Challenges we ran into

We ran into a multitude of challenges during our hackathon. For starters, we worked with an abundance of new technologies. Our front end developers had never used Velo, while we didn’t have anybody experienced in back end. It was a huge challenge learning basic back end concepts and applying that to the DeSo Protocol Library. Finally, this is all of our first time doing a 24 hour hackathon! It was difficult to plan and implement a fully functional project in such a short time span!

✔️ Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are extremely proud of surmounting the seemingly endless stream of obstacles that follow with implementing a website posting media based on the blockchain. We are ecstatic to say that we were able to build off of our front end knowledge and apply that to Velo. Additionally, we are proud to apply the back end concepts we learned at this hackathon, along with DeSo’s Protocol Library to create a project to tackle real world problems.

📚 What we learned

We learned a variety of object oriented programming concepts, the fundamentals of node.js and how to make HTTP Requests with Javascript. We also learned a lot about the DeSo Protocol Library, specifically how to implement a login system, make posts to the blockchain, and mint our EN-FT’s.

🚀 What's next for EN-FT

First and foremost, we want to fully integrate our Figma design onto Velo. Additionally, we want to allow users to search and filter through volunteer opportunities as they wish. Furthermore, we want to allow users to be able to follow specific individuals and organizations, so that they are recommended volunteer opportunities posted by them! We want to expand our reach to every single individual!
