Inspiration

To do our part to spread awareness and inspire the general public to make adjustments that will improve everyone's air quality. Also wanted to demonstrate that these adjustments are not as challenging and in our simulator, it shows that frequent small top ups go a long way.

What it does

Our website includes information about EV and a simulation game where you have to drive past EV charging stations for quick top ups otherwise the vehicle will slow down to a crawl. EV stations come up fairly frequent, weather it be a regular wall socket or supercharger station.

How we built it

Our website was built on repl.it, where one of us was working on a game while the other used html/css to create a website. After a domain was chosen from domain.com, we started to learn how to create a website using HTML. For some parts, code was taken from free html templates and were later manipulated in an HTML editor. Afterwards, google cloud was used to host the website, forcing us to learn how to use servers.

Challenges we ran into

For starters, almost everything was new for all of us, from learning HTML to learning how to host off of a server. As new coders, we had to spend many hours learning how to code before we do anything. Once that happens we had to spend many hours testing code to see if it produced the wanted result. After all that was over, we had to learn how to use google cloud, our first experience with servers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Actually having a working website, and having the website be hosted.

What we learned

HTML, CSS, JS, Server hosting.

What's next for EVolving Tech

We want to add destinations to give our simulation more complexity and context. This will allow the users to navigate between points of interest in their home city to get a feel of how range measures up to level of charge.
