Inspiration
We wanted to explore the possibilities of gesture controlled gaming, while having a cool retro theme. So we chose to take inspiration from our favourite game, Street Fighter.
What it does
You must defeat endless enemies by casting spells via hand gestures. You have to use the right spell for each enemy, or else they will just block. You can rack up a high score and enjoy sweet sweet nostalgia.
How we built it
We used Create.js as our graphics/audio library, and we made everything run locally. We went through a number of pivots and new ideas during the early stages of the Hackathon in order to adapt to challenges.
Challenges we ran into
The Myo is very finnicky, so we had to modify our original vision to accommodate that. We had to scrap game ideas because the Myo could not provide the sensitivity and accuracy we needed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Delivering a polished game in such a short time frame, especially one that interfaces with extremely exciting technology.
What we learned
We should have studied the limitations of the Myo beforehand. However, we managed to work around its shortcomings with some effort.
What's next for FightMaestro
Online multiplayer. Battle your friends using gesture controls. See who is really a Myo master!
