Inspiration
As broke college students transitioning into adult life, we know just how little we know about personal finance. Considering how crucial and potentially life-changing financial decisions can be, we decided to create a site which provides users with resources specific to their age group and financial goals.
What it does
Just by taking one short quiz on the FinSour site, people of all ages can find financial literacy resources tailored to them.
How we built it
Our site uses html and CSS for the front end, and Java for the backend, as well as a live server.
Challenges we ran into
We had a lot of issues trying to figure out our backend. We were originally planning to make the site without using live servers, but at the last minute we had to change the entire plan in order to incorporate them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are very proud of how clean and professional our home page looks.
What we learned
Through this process, we learned that early and thorough planning of a website's design and implementation is key.
What's next for FinSoar
In the future, we want to make our quiz longer, so that users can have resources more specified towards them. In particular, we want to find resources specifically for racial and financial minority groups. We also need to get the users input to the quiz to output certain resources from our general list. Moreover, we want to incorporate some financial literacy APIs we found online, such as the following: link. Finally, we want to make our site's functionality swifter and easier to use.
