Inspiration

The leading cause of food insecurity is poverty, increasing population, drought, etc. These causes of food insecurity affect the population in the form of malnutrition, vulnerability and stunted children. The solutions for these problems in food insecurity are awareness, decrease food waste and donations, etc. So, we came up with Food Hut which helps to tackle these problems.

What it does

Order Food: You can order food from the restaurant for free and get the order Id. After that you can go to the store and pick up your order for free.

Restaurant: Restaurant owners can register their establishments if they want to provide free meals to hungry people.

Fund-Raising: You can donate money to the restaurant so that they can serve additional food to folks who are hungry.

Campaigns: You can sign up for current campaigns and also organise your own campaigns related to food insecurity.

Plant Shop: Tree-based systems and forests directly contribute significantly to food security and nutrition in many ways across the globe, more especially in the tropics and dryland areas. You can shop plants as we believe it will be a small step towards saving the environment and also reducing food insecurity.

How we built it

Challenges we ran into

As my teammates were not responsive, I decided to work alone by myself and the time zone difference is a huge task to complete my project. I felt challenged while choosing the colour scheme for the UI and deciding the features was a difficult one.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I’m proud of how I was able to create a comprehensive website with decent UI/UX in such a short amount of time. In addition, since this was my first time working on a Figma app project solo, it was really interesting to have full control over every aspect of the webpage, and I’m proud of what I’ve created!

What we learned

Doing research for this website definitely opened my eyes to how widespread the impact of food insecurity is--and how important it is to work towards a solution to the problem. One big thing I learned is how to better work with Figma. I’m still pretty new to using it, as it’s only my second time with it, and every time I work with it I learn something new!

What's next for Food Hunt

Next, I planned to build a real website with more exciting features.
