Inspiration

I was inspired to create Greta because I wanted to make it easy for people to take action and make a difference in the environment. As someone who cares about sustainability, I wanted to develop an accessible tool that provides simple suggestions for eco-friendly behaviors.

What it does

Greta, the web app I developed, generates random tips and suggestions for sustainable practices that users can adopt in their daily lives. It covers a range of areas such as energy conservation, waste reduction, and transportation. It also allows users to suggest ways to save the environment.

How we built it

I built Greta using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SQLite for the database. I used a mobile-first approach to design the user interface and integrated an algorithm that randomly selects tips. Users can suggest tips that are stored into the SQLite database and are accessible for users to view.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges I faced while building Greta was creating a diverse and comprehensive database of eco-friendly tips. I also had to ensure that the tips were practical, actionable, and applicable to a variety of lifestyles and circumstances.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud to have created a web app that can potentially have a positive impact on the environment by encouraging people to make sustainable choices. I'm also proud of designing a tool that is accessible and easy to use for anyone with an internet connection.

What we learned

During the development of Greta, I learned about the importance of designing for accessibility and inclusivity, as well as the challenges of balancing practicality with environmental impact. I also gained a greater appreciation for the potential impact of technology on promoting sustainable behaviors.

What's next for Greta

In the future, I hope to continue adding new tips and features to Greta to keep users engaged and motivated to make positive environmental changes. I also plan to partner with environmental organizations and initiatives to further amplify the impact of the web app.
