Inspiration
Over 250,000 people live with spinal cord injuries in the US. 47% of injuries are quadriplegic -- paralysis of all four limbs and torso. We were inspired to bring motion to the motionless.
What it does
HandsFree is proof of concept application that combines an EEG with signal processing to translate electrical impulses into movement.
How I built it
We used the neuromore sdk to process and filter EEG signals which we mapped to movements in a unity-based hand simulator.
Challenges I ran into
Processing raw data from the electrode readings was very difficult and it took many attempts to produce a repeatable control system.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We hope our application is just the beginning of EEG controlled motion rehabilitation :)
