Inspiration
We believe in helping the society. To relief the pressure of caregivers for terminally ill family members, we decided to come up with this app to help them along the process of caring for them. According to secondary research, Singapore’s government has made few efforts to help caregivers, making them a neglected group. Services are available but yet remain scattered with the likes of Healthhub support groups and hospital support groups and no real platform to purchase 2nd or 1st hand equipment needed to take care of these terminally ill patients except Carousell which may not offer enough coverage. Furthermore, since Singapore is an aging society, we face the issues that many developed societies face, an aging population with increasing palliative illnesses. This could be seen through the 29 million people who have died from these types of illnesses in 2011 alone. Thus, we decided to focus on the sector of Health and Well-being, addressing Sustainable Devt. Goal No. 4.
What it does
This app comprises of various platforms in which could make caregivers lives easier by combining and introducing everything they would need in 1 single application. Our app is a 1 stop application, with a Marketplace for donations of medical equipment, navigation device for caregivers of wheelchair users and also a place for caregivers to chat, serving as a community support group. These 3 services could all be done in the same location, making it convenient for caregivers.
How I built it
How We built it 💡
- The App including the UI/UX was designed using Microsoft Power Apps.
- It is low-code/no-code development platform is a visual software development environment that allows citizen developers to drag and drop application components, connect them together and create a mobile or web app. ... Modules can be rearranged and repeatedly tested until the app works as expected.
- Do note that the codes can only be viewed in the Power Apps environment and due to the restricted environment of Power Apps, the project might not be accessible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Challenges I ran into
Some codes had problems and there were some wifi issues. The video editing process also met with some challenges due to the software. I am sorry for the late submission due to some wifi issues as well as the video link being unable to upload and process on youtube.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are proud that we managed to come up with a new idea helping the Healthcare sector.
What I learned
We learned how to make use of AR and I got a better grasp of coding.
What's next for Healthstyle
It can go global by incorporating different features for different countries and cities, adapting to local culture and habits. Features like finding places that are user friendly for those in wheelchairs could also be added. Such features could be added in conjunction with Google Maps so as to make the app really an all in one stop for caregivers taking care of terminally ill patients. Furthermore, our app can also expand its services to work with the HPB and include HealthHub features, making our app suitable for not only terminally ill patients but to also target normal patients that may require physiotherapy after surgeries. However, current services such as the google map technology is unable to run smoothly due to time circumstances in the production of said application. With additional resources like manpower and monetary support, im sure that said functions would be able to successfully work in the long term after this prototyping phase.
