Inspiration

We the Elvekas Team were inspired to create the Hydroll project by the urgent need for clean water and sustainable living within the Gembu community. Our passion for environmental stewardship and desire to lower the mortality rate associated with waterborne diseases drove us to take action, focusing on climate resilience and reducing plastic waste.

What it does

Hydroll purifies well water from strategically located wells and storing in Overhead tanks for our Locals, providing clean, safe drinking water to over 200 households daily. Additionally, the project utilizes recycled plastic bottles to package the purified water, making it accessible to other people and businesses within the community, thereby plastic waste, environmental pollution and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and dependence on imported bottled water like FARO creating sustainability.

How we built it

We will develop Hydroll by first utilizing the two wells we currently own and installing advanced purification systems with addition of storage tanks for public use. We will then partner with local recycling initiatives, individuals and businesses to source plastic bottles, which we clean, sterilize, and repurpose for packaging the purified water. Our team will work tirelessly to ensure the entire process adhered to sustainability and health standards.

Challenges we ran into

The primary challenges we faced included sourcing reliable and effective purification technology, managing the logistics of bottle recycling, and ensuring community engagement and trust in our purified water product. Financial constraints also posed a significant hurdle, necessitating creative solutions and efficient resource management.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully providing clean water to over 200 households daily and sourcing of over 20000 mobile contacts of household owners through our Local Survey is a huge accomplishment. Our Social media platform also reach over 1000 global audience daily making it possible for us to share our knowledge and initiative to many people at the same time.

What we learned

Through this project, we will learn the importance of community involvement and education in promoting sustainable practices. We also gained valuable insights into efficient resource management and the complexities of water purification and recycling processes.

What's next for Hydroll

Looking ahead, Hydroll aims to expand its reach by introducing ecommerce platform for distribution, increasing the number of households served and enhancing our recycling capabilities. We plan to implement educational programs to further raise awareness about sustainability and clean water practices. Additionally, we plan to provide purification services for local owners as well as educating our global audience spanning over 20 countries, we are exploring partnerships and funding opportunities to scale up our operations and ensure the long-term success of our project.
