Inspiration

I was inspired by how Seam really makes it easy to share software as self expression. This miniapp comes out of a journey:

  1. I built a "whiteboard" miniapp using html canvas
  2. Another user builds the "calligraphy" miniapp building upon canvas foundations and introducing p5 js
  3. Seamsters loved the "calligraphy" miniapp, and eventually another user asked other people to comment on their post asking for people to draw letters
  4. The user who asked for the letters, mrlando, made a custom font file based on all of the letters drawn by Seamsters! (see the post here)
  5. This miniapp makes it possible to share your thoughts using the seam community font
  6. Fun fact! I made the icon using the whiteboard miniapp~

What it does

JustAThought (pr here) introduces the most basic form of text sharing on the internet -- sharing a thought in a fixed number of characters. Except it also lets you customize your font color and background color

How we built it

A little bit of https://miniapps.seam.so and a little bit of cold hard coding

Challenges I ran into

There previously wasn't a way to import local font files, so I added this functionality as a util for any future miniapp dev to use!

What's next for JustAThought

Maybe add new fonts ;)
