🎬 KidCaster – AI-Powered News for Kids, By Kids

💡 Inspiration

Every kid has a voice—KidCaster lets the world hear it. From monster sightings to heroic hamster rescues, we asked: What if kids could become the stars of their own news show?

With AI now capable of generating voice, video, and lifelike presenters, the time felt right to bring this playful idea to life. As a parent and builder, I wanted to create something fun, safe, educational, and technically impressive.

🔧 How We Built It

We built KidCaster using Bolt.new to go from concept to reality—fast.

Key Technologies:

• 🧠 OpenAI GPT-4 – Generates age-appropriate, witty news scripts from a child’s prompt
• 🎤 Tavus – Creates AI presenter videos from the scripts
• 💾 Supabase – Stores news reports, handles real-time likes/comments
• 📺 Frontend – React app styled with a playful, broadcast-inspired UI
• 🚀 Deployment – Netlify, Bolt.new badge, IONOS custom domain

🤯 Challenges We Faced

• API Quotas – Tavus rate limits required fallback flows and user guidance
• UX for Kids (Ages 6–10) – Designing interfaces that are intuitive, expressive, and fun, yet simple

📚 What We Learned

• Bolt.new is incredibly fast – We iterated across backend, AI, and frontend without friction
• Designing for kids is hard – Tone, timing, animation, and feedback loops all matter deeply
• AI video is ready – Watching a child’s face light up as their story becomes a broadcast is pure magic
