Inspiration
The inspiration for LePlay came from our unwavering support for the greatest basketball player of all time- Lebron James- as well as a desire to enhance fan engagement by leveraging cutting-edge tools like Gemini AI to create highlight reels.
What it does
Generates highlights based off of given NBA footage. This footage can be uploaded to create highlights and downloaded after highlights are created in order to reminisce over great plays.
How we built it
- split tasks between members to handle API calls, front end, computer vision, and excitement score creation.
- communicated progress to understand what would be possible ## Challenges we ran into
- Correctly implementing and utilizing Gemini API
- Connecting Frontend to Backend
- Utilized OCR to analyze current game state ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Generating a collection of highlights given a full NBA game
- Frontend UI design and functionality
- Ability to utilize Gemini AI to consistently generate reasonable outputs ## What we learned
- How to use different computer vision tools like opencv and tesseract.
- How to set up flask and vite to be able to connect our front-end to our backend ## What's next for LePlay -We wanted to make it more personalized to Lebron by having a Lebronify feature which when toggled will change every player on the court into Lebron James.
