Our Story To build a community, you must first protect it. This truth became crystal clear as we watched Los Angeles burn, with wildfires tearing through our neighbourhoods while brave first responders struggled to coordinate their efforts. In those critical moments, we witnessed how the inability to share real-time information cost precious minutes – and potentially lives. LifeBeacon was born from those ashes, ignited by a simple yet powerful realization: in times of crisis, the difference between rescue and tragedy often hinges on communication. We knew that to truly strengthen our community, we needed to empower those who protect it, ensuring that those who risk everything to save others have the tools they need to work as one.

What is LifeBeacon? Think of LifeBeacon as Life360 for first responders – but supercharged for emergency situations. It's a real-time disaster response platform that enables:

As Product Manager, I orchestrated the strategic direction of our emergency response platform while fostering an environment conducive to peak team performance. My contributions included streamlining team workflows, facilitating technical decision-making, and maintaining team momentum through strategic breaks and morale initiatives. I successfully mediated version control challenges and guided our technical vision through critical pivot points. By balancing team dynamics with product objectives, I ensured our emergency response solution remained both innovative and achievable. While I didn't contribute directly to the codebase, my leadership in product strategy and team coordination was instrumental in bringing our vision to life.

Utilizing Livepeer’s scalable and cost-efficient video transcoding, we seamlessly integrated a real-time video feed from emergency callers to dispatchers, enabling a low-latency and high-quality communication bridge critical for life-saving decisions. By harnessing Livepeer’s robust peer-to-peer infrastructure, we ensured fault-tolerant video delivery, even under high traffic, showcasing the power of decentralized networks for mission-critical applications. The project highlighted how Livepeer’s blockchain-backed architecture could revolutionize emergency response systems by providing reliability, scalability, and transparency at unprecedented levels.
