Inspiration
Here is a solution that can help anyone focus better with an easily accessible chrome extension by taking advantage of the benefits of white noise and binaural beats. Although this pandemic we’re in makes it extra applicable to all students and workers who are currently stuck at home, this extension can help anyone from students cramming for their finals, hackers hacking away at hackathons to really anybody who needs to allocate some time to focus on one thing.
What it does
LifeOS is a chrome extension that can be categorized as a productivity app. The biggest themes that LifeOS encompasses are productivity, mindfulness, and mental health. Its main features include a customizable timer set just for pure focus time, options to play white noise, binaural beats, or your own Spotify playlist during this period of focus, and a wonderful message at the end of every session to leave you feeling productive and proud. LifeOS holds a lot of pride in offering many customizable features, which we will go on in more detail later.
How we built it
Mithril, Web Audio API, Spotify API, Chrome Extension API, Figma, Adobe XD
Challenges we ran into
Design/Prototype: Building animations & hover state in Figma & Adobe XD Develop: experimenting with a lot of new APIs within a limited timeframe (Mithril, Web Audio, Chrome runtime, Spotify), making project build properly on windows Other: Highlighting minimum viable product and managing scope creep
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning and implementing a large number of complex APIs in a short amount of time
What we learned
Time management and prioritization
