What it does

Mappar integrates the best of two great technologies: 2D Maps and Augmented Reality, to improve the users' experience while navigating.


When the device is held vertically the screen will display the POIs on augmented reality, and when the device is held horizontally, the screen will display the 2D traditional map. This will make the navigation experience easier, more engaging, and fun.


It also filters the POI's in different categories to make a search easier to find.

How I built it

Integrating Esri’s Android SDK, some sensor libraries, Wikitude's AR SDK, Parse and Google Play Services.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

My greatest accomplishment was integrating Esri's SDK with Wikitude's in just a few hours. It was a great challenge!

What's next for MappAR

Include POI’s information on nice cards to display it on the points around the user. This, in order to better the experience of the user when he’s looking for a place, or is on a venue or city that’s not familiar with him. Also, we would like to incorporate esri’s geo-trigger notifications for micromarketing purposes.
