Inspiration

The web app was inspired by an unfortunate event in one of our teammates family. Medication mismatching is more common than it may apparently seem. Prescriptions from doctor X may change based on what doctor Y recently prescribed the patient, or simply because the patient has dietary changes. This is of course just one use case. To avoid any confusion between the doctors and other doctors or doctors and patients, our team decided to build MediTrack.

What it does

MediTrack provides a platform for both doctors and patients to track various amounts of data, which allows the doctors to prescribe the patients medicines accordingly. This make medication management and tracking much easier from both ends. By providing real time updates and pebble notifications, this scalable web app makes communication between doctor and patients much easier.

How I built it

MediTrack web app was built using multiple web technologies including HTML5 CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, NodeJS and ExpressJS. As for the Pebble portion of the app, it was developed in Pebble.js.

Challenges I ran into

The team faced a challenge incorporating a database(MongoDB) in the project due to internet issues and time constraint. Which is why for demonstration purpose we decided to make use of local data storage.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The team feels very accomplished for their overall work this weekend. This may not be the first hackathon we've been to, but its the first one where we all managed to hack within time constraints and have a working prototype. We also feel accomplished by the fact that our product would actually make some real difference in the society.

What I learned

Working with new technologies is always a great learning process at hackathons. We also realized that a day with out sleep is not the best for your body, but when it comes time to present its best for the actual product.

What's next for MediTrack

The team is highly motivated to move forward with this idea. We plan to promote it to small clinics, hospitals and nursing home. Because we strongly believe that careless incidents can be avoided by using a simple platform like MediTrack.
