Inspiration

We wanted to challenge the conventional approach to directions and create an app that not only guides users but also adds an exciting and chaotic twist to their journeys.

What it does

Moogle Gaps takes a unique approach to navigation. Users input their destination, and the app provides minimal guidance—displaying a blank screen until moments before a turn is required. This intentional delay creates an adventurous and slightly chaotic experience, encouraging users to stay alert and engaged throughout their journey.

How we built it

It is built using frameworks such as reach and express. We had to use complex 3rd party APIs and work out the user location each second. It is currently only a web app.

Challenges we ran into

One significant challenge we faced was while working with 3rd Party APIs. We couldn't get them working at first. We needed the advice of mentors several times to get that up and running. Another challenge we faced was with testing the project. Because we are working on laptops it was a little tough to see the location updating in real time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're thrilled to have crafted an app that turns routine navigation into an exhilarating adventure. Encouraging feedback from our early users validates Moogle Gaps' success in providing a distinct and memorable experience. The app's unique approach to navigation is a testament to our team's collaborative effort and innovative thinking.

What we learned

Developing Moogle Gaps taught us valuable lessons in user experience design, geolocation services, and balancing novelty with functionality. We learned how to use geolocation APIs and how to integrate them with our app. We also learned about reach hooks and their inner workings which were crucial in designing the app.

What's next for Moogle Gaps

Looking forward, we plan to introduce new features such as different mode of transport such as Transit and walking. We are also looking to make the web app available on native platforms such as windows, IOS, Mac and android.
