We want to qualify for HACKIEST HACK and PILKSOFT PRIZE
Inspiration
At DurHack 2024, one of our team members took great inspiration from the first place winner - A digital T-shirt desinger tool. The idea was simple: Using Computer Vision (CV) to draw a shirt design on a projected canvas, and bring your vision to life by scaling the projection down exactly to the right size to be able to then "wear" said projection on your shirt!
The premise of a mixed reality game has been pretty attractive since then, and hence MRTTT (Mixed Reality Tic Tac Toe) was born!
What it does
You have two players - X and O. On each player's turn, The player has to hover their hand on the square they want to play on, and they will have played their turn.
How we built it
We used MediaPipe's Hands module to allow for hand tracking, and as such used simple game logic to keep track of goes and display them on the screen!
Challenges we ran into
We originally envisioned this project to be a backend and frontend project to allow anyone with a projector to be able to just plug and play, but unfortunately we were short on time :(
What we learned
We were both new to CV - it was quite fun to learn!
What's next for MRTTT
MRTTT opens up the possibility for other games to be brought into the living room. What's stopping us (besides time ofc!) from making a MR4IAR (4 In a Row)? Or a MR Wordle? Or MR checkers? MRTTT could be expanded to become a whole suite of games!
