Inspiration

VR and motion controllers offer us new ways to visualization and manipulate data. With GraphVR we are attempting to introduce a new way to interact with your Facebook using intuitive motion controls and 3D VR visualizations.

How it works

We pull in data from the Facebook Graph and use a variety of visualizations to look at your Facebook data in new ways in VR using the Google Cardboard and the Oculus Rift and using the Myo as an input device.

Challenges we ran into

VR is still in its infancy and the SDKs we are using still have a lot of bugs and quirks. They are also very platform dependent

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting the Myo and Oculus working together. Pulling in the Facebook Graph data and organizing it in a 3D space.

What we learned

I learned a lot more about Unity, iOS, the Oculus SDK and the Myo controller.

What's next for GraphVR

We want to add more filters that allow you to organize and view your data in many different ways. We also want to add a social aspect that allows you to get permission to view your friend's data so that you can explore the connections between your two graphs.
