Inspiration 💡

Detimu was inspired by the intention of promoting indie artists by leveraging the use of blockchain 💪
A lot of indie artists struggle with earning a name for themselves, but other added challenges include ticketing systems, engagement with fans pre-concert and more 🌱
In fact, in such situations, the Web3 ecosystem like Flow that consists and provides extensive fungible tokens, NFTs and other tools can be extensively utilized to uplift the indie artists 💡
Hence, to help out indie artists and at the same time diversify the use of the powerful web3 ecosystem, we bring to you Detimu - A decentralized ticketing platform for music concerts 💗

Detimu, powered by Flow provides the following features for indie artists to utilize and the fan base to interact with:

Ticketing Platform

Artist can create concert tickets on the go
Fans have hassle-free purchase of tickets
In fact, the tickets utilize really cool NFTs that immediately get issued to the user
The NFTs transaction is recorded on the Flow blockchain, hence, avoiding all and any possible future dispute

Merchandise and Goods Purchase

Support the artists by purchasing merch and other goodies
All of this is made possible with the power of Flow tokens
Ensures hassle-free transactions with the use of Flow wallet

Donation Support

Any fan clubs that the artists is willing to make can be utilized for the greater good
Any funding received for donation support, the user can choose their choice of charity and donate certain amount of Flow tokens to join their favorite musician's fan club
There is no hidden process, once the user joins a fan club, they can immediately choose to donate to any charity they wish to!

How we built it 🦾

With the power of Flow we were able to make Detimu possible, ensuring all indie artists can utilize this Web3 based ticketing platform to the fullest.

Fungible Tokens

Tokens provided and native to Flow are used to buy any merchandise or concert tickets
These tokens are also gifted as a complementary when a user chooses to utilize the platform to support artists

Non-Fungible Tokens

The concert tickets bought on the platform are basically issued as NFTs to the user buying it
This records the transaction on the Flow blockchain, enabling dispute free transactions
Customized NFTs can be utilized to the artists liking

Smart Contracts

With Flow having great developer support, we were able to implement smart contracts into the code.
This automates a lot of the NFT ticket issuance and other in-app purchases on the website, hence ensuring hassle-free customer experience.

Challenges we ran into 🏁

Understanding and implementing Flow was hard, since it had a steep learning curve, however despite that we were able to successfully implement the basic functionality of it
Time management is always a classic challenge, we had severely underestimated the technical difficulties of implementing this project, a lot of the time was spent on debugging and understanding how to make the application work, however despite this we were able to implement a basic working model that aligns with our vision of the application.

Building and utilizing Flow blockchain for empowerment of indie musicians
Presenting a fully functional project that has a strong purpose behind it! We hope to make this a scalable project that promotes more indie artists to join the platform and be able to promote themselves!

Explored the potential of NFTs beyond digital art and discovered how they can be used to support businesses, engage customers, and foster loyalty. 🎨
Utilization of web3 platforms to promote more indie artists, understanding the dynamics between an artist and their fan base ⭕
Thorough understanding of how blockchain systems work, benefits of decentralization and diversified utilization of blockchain

What's next? 🔮

Detimu is looking to expand with addition of more features that would help the artists to collaborate with each other, make an in-built streaming platform in it.
This also goes hand in hand with the mission of promoting indie music, which is not promoted by giant platforms due to less discovery and promotion.
We also aim to exclusively cater to indie artists via this platform to protect them from exploitation that is done by big ticketing platforms.
