planSmart

Inspiration

Our inspiration for this project was our desire to travel after COVID, but we are unsure how much we will have to save per month in order to travel to the destination of our choice

What it does

Our app allows users to budget their expenses and show how much they are spending. It also allows users to add goal items and our app calculates how much per month they will have to save in order to reach their goal by the desired timeline. The user can view these goals in the view page. It also features a user login and tracks data specific to the user's login

How I built it

We built the whole app using React and used Firebase Auth/Firebase DB to store and authenticate our users data

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges we ran into was reading data from the Firebase DB and displaying it.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We are proud of the fact that we can present a product and that we managed to sleep at a decent time

What I learned

We learned many things about the inner workings of React and how the React Context works. In addition we also learned how to use the firebase DB and firebase auth.

What's next for planSmart

We plan to refine the UI of planSmart and continue to work on the inner functionality of the view page. As well, we want to add an investment API that automatically saves the users money per time period according to their savings goals and calculated annuity.
