Inspiration

Coming to ugahacks3 and realized that we didn't have a ride! Lucky for us we found a carpool channel in our hackathon slack and finally we found somebody at the last minute. This happens a lot in everyday life, so we realized we could cme up with a solution to this.

What it does

PoolCar helps to connect people looking for traveling/daily commute and those who can offer a ride.

How we built it

We built a webapp mobile application using the Ionic Framework and Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

This was 1 of the group members' first hackathon, so everything was a challenge! It was incredibly challenging setting up Firebase with our Ionic app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Surviving as a newbie.

What we learned

Connecting Firebase with Ionic is harder than it should be. Explanatory non-outdated tutorials online are rarer than bixbite.

What's next for PoolCar

Flesh out many features, like real-time matching, profile ratings,incentive system for drivers, background checking, make it full fledged, launch it on the app Store for iOS and Android.
