Inspiration 🌈
Limited knowledge and understanding of LGBTQIA+ Pride Flags, Gender Identity & Gender Expression Flags, Sexual Orientation Flags, and Intersectionality Pride Flags hinder inclusivity and appreciation of diverse identities.
Misidentification and confusion of pride flags perpetuate stereotypes and misunderstandings. Limited engagement in LGBTQIA+ educational initiatives restricts the dissemination of vital information.
Creating unity within the LGBTQIA+ community can be challenging. Limited resources exist to educate children and young adults about LGBTQIA+ pride flags.
What it does 🏳️⚧️
Rainbow Riddles gives users one of 25 different Pride Flags and asks them to choose which Pride Flag it is. When the user chooses an answer from a set of four possible answers, a pop up appears letting the user know if they are correct or not.
How we built it 🏳️🌈
We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to code the game, uploaded it to GitHub and deployed it on GitHub pages.
Challenges we ran into 🟧
We weren't able to load the text descriptions of the various Pride Flags when a user gave a correct answer to "Which Flag Does This Represent?"
Accomplishments that we're proud of 🌈
As coders that aren't very familiar with JavaScript, we're proud that we were able to get Rainbow Riddles as functional as it is at the time of submission to Pride Hacks!
What we learned 🏳️🌈
JavaScript is a little more difficult for newbies than we imagined.
What's next for Rainbow Riddles 🏳️⚧️
We intend to make Rainbow Riddles fully functional as well as add scores so that a user can see how well they guessed the flags!
