Sabl AI was born out of a real problem โ I got my hands on a massive scraped dataset of business leads, but had no streamlined way to manage and reach out to them at scale. CRMs like Salesforce are powerful, but slow to act. Outreach tools are siloed. I needed something faster, something that could initiate conversations, not just store them. Thatโs when I realized: if sales is all about timing and context, why not have an AI do the heavy lifting the moment a lead lands?
๐ What it does
Sabl AI automates the first touch with leads โ combining Salesforce, Slack, and AI voice calling into one seamless workflow. With a single action in Salesforce, Sabl:
- Places an AI-powered outbound voice call to the lead
- Creates a dedicated Slack channel with real-time call transcription and summary
- Gives the team a centralized space to collaborate, follow up, and convert
It transforms lead management from static records into live, ongoing conversations.
๐ ๏ธ How we built it
We used:
- Salesforce Apex + Flows to define trigger logic and send lead data
- Slack API to dynamically create channels and post updates
- Vapi.ai to handle real-time voice calls and transcriptions
- OpenAI for summarization and suggested next steps
- A JWT-authenticated Node.js proxy server to glue everything together and securely handle logic between services
Everything is designed to be low-latency and scalable across thousands of leads.
๐งฑ Challenges we ran into
- Getting Salesforce Flows and Apex to cleanly trigger external voice calls without timing out
- Handling Slack event consistency with scheduled messages and channel creation
- Managing auth flows across Salesforce, Slack, and Vapi while staying secure
- Making the AI-generated voice sound human enough for a natural first impression

- Seamlessly integrated three major platforms (Salesforce, Slack, Vapi) in a single workflow
- Built a Slack-first experience for lead management that feels collaborative, not clunky
- Enabled full AI voice call initiation directly from Salesforce โ no third-party app jumping
- Made it possible to run entire lead engagement flows without a human touch, until it matters

- Slack can be an incredibly powerful UI layer for enterprise workflows when used creatively
- Salesforce Flows + Apex are surprisingly flexible if you think modularly
- Good outbound AI needs tight control over timing, tone, and context โ itโs not just about GPT
- Triggering conversations is harder than continuing them โ but also way more valuable
