Smart Blind

Inspiration

I have many blinds at home. It takes efforts for me to open them and close them because there are table in the way next to the windows(blinds).

What it does

It allow us to open or close all the blinds by just press a button on the APP we created.

How we built it

We used a stepped motor to pull the string of the blind. And we write code on Arduino to connect to our phone and order the pulling. We made a device for pulling the string on the stepped motor by using 3d printer.

Challenges we ran into

We don't have knowledge of hardware like how stepped motor and h-bridge motor driver work. And how to connecting all the wires to make everything work. We did research online, learned from tutorial, and finally made the motor move circularly on day1. On day2, we encounter difficulties connecting arduino and phone. We asked mentor for help, and try different technics, it eventually works.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We overcame the all our difficulties. We never give up.

What we learned

We can build things we want. We just need to do it.

What's next for Smart Blind

1. We also want to make a feature that allow users to set a their idea time to open and close their blinds
2. A feature that close the blinds after users left home.
3. make customization for router
