Recycling has a dramatic impact on reducing climate change and destruction of resources. Most people who do not recycle are not opposed to doing so, but the thought does not occur to them or they are not motivated enough to do so. Social Cycle helps inspire families to start recycling or broaden their efforts while building habits that will make a difference in all areas of their lives.
Social Cycle is a device that tracks the recycling habits of a family, using sensors to count the number of recyclables they collect throughout the week. Social Cycle lets them find other families to connect and compete for the honor of being the most environmentally conscious in the neighborhood. A convenient iOS app makes it easy to keep up with the Jones'... recycling. ;)
Built with Arduino for sensor integration, Raspberry Pi for network connectivity, and Parse for data management.
