Social maps

Inspiration

I wanted to see visually on World map where each family member have been.

What it does

In application users can set places on map with location, date and description. User can invite other members to group and then map will display locations from all users in group.

How we built it

It's built using only Bolt.new prompts. It has integration with Supabase.

Challenges we ran into

Integration with social network authentification was difficult in local environment. Supabase row level security (RLS) adjustments made Bolt go into coding loop without fixing an actual issue (one more RLS condition was needed to resolve it which was added manually in Supabase). More complex requests often broke what was already done or previous changes were reverted.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting hands-on experience with Supabase.

What we learned

After complex changes, best practice is to re-check all functionalities created before.

What's next for Social maps

Getting it to work not only for families but also for student exhcange, family trees and other use cases. Make it possible to share created map on social networks. As for monitazation - possible integration with printing companies, travel and accommodation advertising
